Back in 1964 Gershow Recycling was a two man operation with an antiquated boom truck, a beat up tractor and trailer, and Long Island’s First portable car flattener.

But we recognized early on that Long Island had a growing solid waste problem and we could do something about it.  As a result, we went to the region’s landfills to literally mine thousands of tons of cars that had been entombed there because we felt they could be recycled.

Today, in our second generation of family ownership and management, we operate the most modern, technically advanced scrap processing recycling facilities in the nation with three facilities located on Long Island, and one located in Brooklyn.

Our modern equipment and our ability to meet new recycling industry needs, reflects the commitment we have made toward providing the finest service possible to our customers.

Gershow’s equipment inventory now includes car shredders, balers, shears, car flatteners, cranes, trucks, loaders and hundreds of roll-off containers for 24-hour on-site disposal.

We transport overseas by ship, over-land by rail and truck and provide computerized tracking of our product to ensure on-time delivery.  And we consistently reinvest in our facilities to ensure that we meet or exceed environmental standards.

But perhaps more importantly, we have over 200 Gershow employees who have been part of the Gershow “family” for years-men and women who have built solid careers while standing by our pledge of an honest price, hard work and unmatched quality and service.  They appreciate that customer satisfaction is what has built this company since its first day.  It is the most important product we sell.
